The Moderns™ by Riverbend Joins Modern Architecture and Timber Framing Seamlessly

Hearing the phrase “modern architecture” may conjure images in your mind of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, Richard Neutra’s Lovell Health house, or Joseph Eichler’s “California Modern” homes. Each of these masters created flowing, open spaces and displayed the architectural structure of the home.

Riverbend Timber Framing is proud to introduce their newest home collection, The Moderns™. Inspired by the architectural styling of Wright, Neutra, and Eichler, the four homes in the collection feature simplicity of design, visible timbers and post-and-beam elements, and indoor/outdoor living. The homes incorporate a building system that works together to create a highly energy-efficient building envelope.

Starting with the foundation, Riverbend uses Advantage brand ICFs (insulated concrete forms) when pouring the foundation. An ICF is comprised of EPS (expanded polystyrene) foam with polypropylene webs into which concrete is poured. The EPS keeps the concrete from conducting heat and cold from the foundation’s exterior to the interior of your home. To finish the home’s exterior, Riverbend uses Insulspan structural insulated panels (SIPs) for the walls and roof. SIPs are highly efficient panels made by laminating OSB (oriented strand board) on two sides of a large solid core of EPS (expanded polystyrene) insulation giving your home the ability to maintain a consistent temperature for a lower energy cost.

While the homes in The Moderns™ Collection are conceptually designed for review, there is an element missing – YOU. Through the Total Home SolutionSM process, Riverbend will guide you through all the stages of building your new modern timber home. During this process, Riverbend designers will customize your selected floor plan to your unique needs. Once the design process is complete, your Riverbend project manager will coordinate your timber project starting with the fabrication of your timber frame, providing a seamless transition from design to manufacturing and finished construction.
