Green Sustainability

The concept of "Green" sustainability is not new to Riverbend. Some of the first homes we crafted were based on the sustainability concept, incorporating energy saving concepts, and ecologically sensitive materials. The practice of timber framing itself is considered eco-friendly and "Green." Timber framing is sustainable for many reasons; below are some of the most common:

Timber Framing is a green sustainable building method
  • Renewable Resource
  • Not Virgin Timber
  • Fewer members,
    less board footage
  • Less milling waste
  • Wood joinery takes the
    place of metal
  • Local Resources

With a system that uses Advantage Insulated Concrete forms for the basement, and Insulspan Structural Insulating Panels to enclose the timber frame structure, the home is automatically given an energy star rating, and that is just for using the products.

By incorporating the Better Building Ideas concept, developed by PFB, Insulspan, and Riverbend, we can build a home that is highly sustainable, friendlier to the environment, and friendlier to your pocketbook.

With magazines such as Newsweek, Dwell, Wired, and Vanity Fair devoting entire issues to the idea of "Green," it's clear that there will be continued growth in the importance of sustainability and "Green" products. But, Timber Framing was "Green" and Sustainable long before it was cool to be "Green." So, you've come to the right place.
